Follow spot SL-350 1
Small powerhouse:
The SL-350
The 300 watts LED of the SL-350 wins a brightness competition against a 1200 watts discharge lamp. However, it is considerably lighter and by far smaller. LED spots have dramatically been gaining quality in the past years. So, there is no need to haul the 80 kilograms of a classic follow spot onto the illumination bridge. If you go for the SL-350, you only have to lift 10 kilograms.
Follow spot SL-350 2
It does not have to lie quiet regarding the quality of light and the equipment like a color wheel. CTO correction filter, iris, dimmer, focus or a mounting bracket. The spot can be controlled using the control panel on its backside (SL-350) or also via DMX (SL-350 DMX).

Even more power:
The SL-400
The bigger brother of the SL-350, the SL-400, gets even more power out of its 300 watts LED. In addition, it features a warm-white LED. In the past, large follow spots have usually been equipped with cool white LEDs, but only because it was technically impossible to do otherwise.
Follow spot SL-350 4
Now, things have changed and you can get a warm-white follow spot with good color rendering (CRI> 80), adjustable zoom and a control panel with dimmer, shutter, iris and color settings. Wherever the spot should fit into the overall picture and not stand out, it is used ideally. The SL-400 can also be controlled via panel or DMX command.

Even bigger distances:
The SL-600
For the really big distances, Eurolite also offers you an LED follow spot. The SL-600 DMX is equipped with a 600 watts LED and is designed for distances of up to 100 meters.
Follow spot SL-350 7
It features a cool white LED as light source. You can adjust the beam angle from 7 ° to 13 ° and additionally narrow it via an iris. The dimmer, shutter, iris, a color wheel and a color correction wheel can be controlled via control panel as well as via DMX.

Follow spots in the Steinigke product range

A follow spot is used to illuminate areas, stage sections or people. It belongs to the group of profile spotlights. These spots are indispensable in theatrical applications and are also frequently used in event technology and film. Their design makes it possible to "follow" the actor, e.g. on stage, with a narrow cone of light.

How does a follow spotlight work?

Modern follow spotlights are mostly operated with LED light sources. That is why they are often listed in product catalogs as LED followers or followspot LED.

A follow spotlight creates a strong cone of light. With this, it is easy to set the scene for different areas of a room or theater stage while the rest remains darkened. The spotlight got its catchy name because it is designed to follow moving people or objects. This works either automatically by a sensor or manually by a follower. To facilitate movement, these search lights are usually mounted on a chase stand.

Where are follow spotlights used?

Follow spots are an important stage accessory and are mainly used as theater spotlights. In addition, they are also used at concerts - for example, to highlight a specific member of a band through targeted lighting. Now and then, follow spotlights are even used at trade fairs. Here, they are mainly used to better highlight the exhibited products from the mass of sales booths. The special spotlights are very popular at car shows because the light cones make the individual vehicles shine.

What are follwo spots?

You can distinguish LED follow spots based on the following criteria:

  • Power: The power determines how far chasers can shine. For small to medium distances up to around 20 meters, follow spotlights with an output of 160 watts are usually sufficient. Larger units with an output of 600 watts can reach distances of up to 120 meters.

  • Light: A distinction is made between warm white and cool white light. Cold light is mostly used for follow spots. This is mainly because in the past it was simply not possible to produce large spotlights with warm white light. However, this is not a problem with newer models.

  • Color: Modern LED trackers are mostly equipped with a color wheel that has several different color filters. With older search lights, the filters are plugged or folded in front of the lamp.

What characterizes good follow spotlights?

In the past, search lights were often heavy and clunky. Individual search lights weighed 80 kilograms and more. This made them extremely unwieldy to operate and control. Our LED follow spots are significantly lighter. The SL 350 from EUROLITE, for example, weighs just 10 kilograms. When buying, you should also consider the operating noise or noise development of the spotlights. In the product description, this is distinguished under the point noise classification.
