City Lights Lit up eyes and bright faces: Over 80,000 visitors were impressed by the luminous creations designed by various light artists at the light festival “Kronach leuchtet” ("Kronach shines") in its seventh edition. For ten days the whole city presented itself in a very special light.
One of the biggest light festivals 14 “worlds” and 19 “points” of light with over 1000 luminous sources were installed in the north frankonian town at the end of July. Solely for this purpose, more than 10 km of cables were laid. For this reason, "Kronach shines" is surely one of the biggest light festivals of this kind in Germany. Seven light artists and a work group of students from five nations, directed by the Italian light designer Andrea Mantello, were on a mission. They put the whole city in the limelight – the fortress, the town moats, narrow alleys and central squares.
Attractive "illusory world" A special destination was the Melchior-Otto-Platz. With support from Steinigke Showtechnic, light designer Sebastian Jung from Jung4 Light Concepts installed a so-called "illusory world": a light show on two opposing buildings, synchronized to music.Additional Information about light designer Sebastian Jung can be acquired at www.jung-4.com.
Lyon serves as model "Kronach shines" is a project of the league "Kronach creativ". The world famous Fête des Lumières in Lyon serves as model for the frankonian spectacular. Even if the event in Kronach never reaches the dimensions of its French counterpart, "Kronach shines" is already well known far beyond its borders and is an attraction for the entire region. A detailed list of components used for the "illusory world" - installation is to be found under the material bill tab.
